TRANSFORMING

“TRANSFORMING” is 3D Printed Nail stopmotion animation. Created by Planner/Director Mizuki Kawano and Producer Yuna Takayama from Taiyokikaku Co., Ltd. The company's computer graphics artists produced the animation data based on the designs created by the Manicurist, Hatsuki Furutani. Then the data was printed into three-dimensional artificial nails by full color 3D printer, “ProJet 660 Pro”. Total of 521 nails were produced, and the thinnest part of the nails were only 0.56mm. We attached and replaced the nails to the actual human hand, and filmed frame by frame. This stop motion animation was created without using any computer graphics. http://www.trickfilmer.at "A predator dashes after its prey, chase its constantly transforming body through a spinning world. Destined to repeat this chase infinitely, as they are merely running figures in a praxinoscope. " This was my first animation project done under commission for the International Festival of Animated Film Stuttgart. It was animated frame by frame using Flash and After Effects and was finished during my third year of studying at the Institute of Animation in Ludwigsburg Germany. I was hired by Aixsponza as texturing and shading artist. The project was done Vray for C4D 1.8. I was responsible for about 90% of the texturing and shading of the Cars, Drivers and Gear (Helmets & Clothing). I used my physical plausible shading work flow for all of the materials. It was great fun working with the Aixponza team for 2.5 months and a great project to work on. I hope you enjoy the result! Red Bull - Transforming Formula One

We're back on track with racing. Heck Yeah! We created another animation for Red Bull Racing. Introducing Vettels new colleague Daniel Ricciardo we take a closer look at the inner workings of the race car. Animating our way through all the rule changes of the 2014 season the whole thing is converted from last years RB9 to the state of the art RB10 racing car. Aixsponza hired me as an animator for this project. I animated some of the assembly-transformer-style shots in the intro and the turbocharger shot later in the film. Most of the animation is oldschool keyframed. So no parametric mograph transformations. The main reason for this was to make the animations as detailed as possible with a lot of turning screws, flipping joints and plugging cables. It really was a lot of fun and a pretty exciting project. Also check www.aixsponza.com for some nice making of stuff. RedBull Transforming Formula 1 - 3d faces

As the storyboard called for closeup shots of Vettel and Ricciardo in their racing helmets we created 3d photoscans of both pilots. Additionally three cameras were used to capture animated textures of their faces. The stabilized footage was mapped onto retopo geometry of the scan which gaves us realtime animated faces in the 3d viewport. Artists: Manuel Casasola Merkle, Lars Korb, Matthias Zabiegly
