Beginning liquid and loose, like most Jellos do, this new track from Warp9 most certainly has the tasty goodness. After starting with light strumming and vocal clipping, Milky Way Jello then solidifies with the addition of soulful Trumpet samples from Willdabeast. Combined with an 80s style synth, squeals, squeaks and funky rhymes. Towards the middle of the track, the listener gets invited to come blast off. While this writer’s puny mind is unable to discern where one space traveler’s influence begins and another ends, this is clearly a track from the stars. Accompanying this track on the release are several others, including an instrumental of Milky Way Jello. While the other tracks are remixes of other Warp9 songs, they aren’t of MWJ. The remix artists definitely went all out though to be certain. The Limousines and Jazz remix by Crazy Daylight harkens back to the days of 80s synths as well, tying into the Milky Way Jello vibe earlier. Another track, Space Bees, remixed by Mat tha Hat rounds out the track listing with a glitchy harmonica that compliments the quasi-rural vibe of the track. The Space Bees remix almost reminds me of a fusion between bluegrass and glitch, Grass Glitch! Finally, the Solid Gold remix by Cheshire, offers upbeat, bouncey points with heavily chopped and enthusiastic vocals makes the head shake from left to right. The melody after a minute and half changes to something along the lines of an old hip hop tune that I couldn’t put my finger on. Overall, I love this release!
