2. Madonna - Vogue (NQ re-think)

Madonna - Vogue (NQ re-think)

The Queen of Pop took on the New York house sound, exposing the sights, sounds and moves usually confined within the walls of clubs such as the legendary Sound Factory to the masses. The result is my all-time favourite Madonna moment, and some might whisper that it indeed was her finest hour. This interpretation is much sparser and restrained, although I can assure you that 'those pianos' do make an appearance - but not on this clip thanks to Soundcloud's cunning copyright protection system. It's obviously not in the same league as the original (how does one compete with perfection?), but it sure was a hell of a lot of fun to make regardless. If it gets enough attention/requests, I may make the full version available for download in the future, somehow. *** 26/03/15: You can now listen to the entire track on YouTube: http://youtu.be/v7eJl0R_8eI ***

3. SB096 | Neil Quigley 'The Sky Calls to Us' (Original Mix)

SB096 | Neil Quigley 'The Sky Calls to Us' (Original Mix)

Anyone who has followed Neil Quigley throughout his career knows that he has always been a purveyor of the finest house and electronica. From his residency at his world famous Bedrock parties, to collaborations with Nick Muir and Milton Jackson, through to solo efforts on labels such as Dessous and Shaboom. Neil’s growing reputation as a producer has seen him work with artists such as Roykssop’s Erlend Øye, Blakkat's Mark Bell and Mobilee songstress Cari Golden. And now his REfINE label together with German tech house pioneers Terry Lee Brown Junior and The Timewriter, ensuring his music will be with us for a long time to come. He makes his Sudbeat debut with three superb tracks, so lets open his account with the title track 'Forbidden'. This infectious deep gem, is graced with a hypnotic spoken vocal, that adds to the mysteriousness. This subtly builds and intensifies with a seriously cool synth line that grabs you by the scruff of the neck. 'The Sky Calls To Us' haunting strings set the tone as we meander effortlessly, and dreamily along, before we are greeted with an unexpected, yet most welcome acid line. Rounding us off 'Look Closer'. The classic sound of Neil, deep and moody, but oozing of quality. Subtle pads guide you along, over simple yet effective beats and then that cheeky vocal... this is perfect for early doors or setting a mood.

For our fifth release it's the turn of the third REfINE Musketeer Neil Quigley to enter the fray to present his 'Rain EP'. 12. Neil Quigley feat. Ange - Rain (original)

Neil Quigley feat. Ange - Rain (original)

For our fifth release it's the turn of the third *REfINE* Musketeer *Neil Quigley* to enter the fray to present his *'Rain EP'*. Title track *'Rain'* is a delicate fusion of pulsing synths, ethereal pads and crisp drums, with the gentle breathy vocals of *Ange*, more widely known for her recent collaborations with *Robert Babicz*. In stark contrast Glaswegians *Mia Dora*, currently riding the crest of a wave following their Essential New Tune on *Pete Tong's* legendary Radio 1 show, pitch down the vocals and crank up the energy with breakbeats that threaten to bulldoze their way through your speakers. Providing a more refined approach (pun intended), *Terry Lee Brown Junior* once again delivers his trademark dubby atmospheric interpretation, stripping down the original's melodies and intertwining them with a dizzying array of tribal rhythms. Rounding off the EP is the straight up no nonsense groove of *'Deeper'*; as hypnotic as it is funky, as simple as it is effective. Early support from: Slam, Affkt, Kruse & Nuernberg, Dyed Soundorom, Hernan Cattaneo, Solaris Heights & more!

Cine City - Are You Sure Joe (Neil Quigley remix) ***FREE TRACK***

Here's my homage to this Paper Recordings classic, created by the deep house triumvirate of Hard Times residents Miles Holloway and Eliot Eastwick, and legendary producer Si Brad. This track was first introduced to me by the Fathers Of Sound on their revered Renaissance Mix Collection back in 1996, and I've been in love with it never since. I can truly say I've never grown tired of it, and believe me I've played it A LOT. Obviously I'll never come close to the original, but I had a lot of fun doing it and at the very least I'll have introduced some of you to the mighty http://soundcloud.com/paperecordings back catalogue. So many of their tracks work on today's dance floors so I urge you to check them out! http://paperecordings.com http://facebook.com/paperecordings http://twitter.com/paperecordings
