TITLE: Cursed Sabbath Massacre
GENRE: Psychological Thriller
LOGLINE: “A man’s home is sacred.” When a group of people visits Eli’s bed and breakfast, he finds his sanity slipping, revealing the dark mysteries of his past.
A shadow stalks through a dusty shed. The man working inside remains oblivious, until
the moment that the hatchet rips into his back. The shadowy man leaves, but not before letting his priest’s collar drift down into the growing pool of blood.
Jason makes the long trip to a bed and breakfast with his fiancé, Rosie and best friend, Shawn. They drive through Brighton Springs until they arrive at the Reed Home. Eli, the quiet, thoughtful man who runs the B&B, greets them at the door. As they explore the property, mere inklings of its bloody history are revealed. The cracks start to grow in Eli’s pleasant façade, revealing the broken man within.
Every night, Eli toils away in his greenhouse garden, seeking a measure of peace in the untamed chaos. Jason seeks him out within, and Eli feels himself letting his guard down. But when some vandals break into the garden, they leave something behind: the priest’s collar.
As Eli’s mental walls collapse, he becomes increasingly unstable, unwilling to tolerate anything ‘immoral’ from his guests. He creates enemies out of Jason and his friends, even as Eli finds himself plagued with visions of his cruel Father. Eli explodes in a rage as he sees his Father hurting his Mother. The vision fades as he attacks his terrified guests. Tensions fade, but Eli’s instability lingers.
Jason convinces Eli to leave with him for a day to relax and leave his worries behind. But when they return, Eli’s home is a madhouse. Dozens of people fill the house, throwing a party. Eli’s sanity crumbles. He sees a horrific vision of his Father massacring the partiers. But this time, the vision doesn’t fade, as a man with a hatchet actually murders and dismembers people as he approaches Eli. Eli runs on pure instinct.
The man’s heavy footsteps hammer behind Eli as he flashes back to himself as a child, running from his father. They race through the labyrinthine garden. Eli reaches a dead end, cornered by the man. He reveals himself to be the son of Father’s first victim. As he reveals Father’s atrocities, how he murdered Eli’s mother and litte brother, Eli has a vision of his Father. He pleads for answers, and his Father gives them. Eli, in his growing insanity, can only agree with his Father. He kills the other man in fury, becoming the monster he so feared.
“A man’s home is sacred.” Eli takes his Father’s words to heart, vowing to destroy the source of his corruption: Jason and his friends. Eli stalks through the house, slaughtering those in his path. As Eli confronts Rosie, his final victim, visions of his mother and his buried pain at her loss paralyze him. Rosie leaps up, stabbing Eli and ending the nightmare.
But this new madness has already taken root in Rosie’s mind...
