I am a Cree/Metis woman who grew up in North of the Saskatchewan River in a small rural place called Tweedsmuir, which is close to the Emma Lake area. It was the home of my grandparents James & Annie Brown, and my father Gordon Brown raised his family there as well.” “I fell in love with the world of music at a young age since many of my relatives would play guitar, fiddle and/or sing at family get-togethers. But, I myself did not sing in front of an audience until a few years ago. I am greatly influenced by classic country, folk and the rhythm & blues, but do love many other genres. I would probably describe my music as contemporary Aboriginal/Country/Folk/Blues genre, maybe more of a “roots” artist. I love the creative process of writing songs & as for singing for an audience; I have discovered it is a great way to connect with people and enjoy the joys that music brings”. “I am currently working towards putting out an EP of some of my original songs by the late summer of 2012. My EP will be titled “Facing the Storm” and the songs on it will be about love & heartbreak, survival, remembering, resilience, joy in life & letting go & being open to new growth. I also have a niece who is an RCMP member. The second one is about my dad who farmed for many years. We played anywhere from small town halls for 300 to larger concert halls for 3-5000 on a regular basis! Country music is in my blood! I am most influenced by Dolly Parton, Shania Twain, Allison Krauss and LeeAnn Womack who also happen to be my all time favorites! I have fairly recently moved to Canada with my husband. I am hoping to continue and maybe expand my career here, but really all I want is to be able to continue singing and performing! I am presently exploring opportunities with record labels in Nashville, recorded some great music in Nashville and will be booking gigs locally, nationally and internationally! He actively attends Morning Star Church since his life was changed from a past ridden with alcohol and drug addiction. Ron began to be inspired to sing gospel when he heard fellow gospel singers while driving on the Fishing First Nation near Wadena, Sask when listening to Missinippi radio station (M.B.C.) one Sunday morning in the summer of 2009”. “The first song "Praying for You" was inspired by being concerned for other people, and wanting them to get help. The second song "Without Love" was written after pastor Glen Povey preached for three consecutive Sundays on love; we all need love in this day and age”. “Simply put Ron's mission in music is to comfort and inspire others with encouragement.
